Hi everyone,
I've been facing some issues with my Synaptics touchpad driver on Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced the driver installation files and I can't find them anywhere on my system. I've tried searching on the official Synaptics website, but their driver download page only offers drivers for Windows 10 and above. I've also checked my laptop manufacturer's website, but they only provide outdated versions of the driver. Could someone please provide me with a reliable source or a direct download link for the Synaptics touchpad driver compatible with Windows 8.1? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Troubleshooting Questions and Answers:

Q1: Why is my touchpad not responding to touch gestures?
A1: Firstly, make sure the touchpad driver is properly installed. Go to the Device Manager, locate the touchpad driver (under Mice and other pointing devices), right-click and select "Update driver" to ensure it is up to date. If the issue persists, try restarting your laptop and check if the touchpad starts working again.

Q2: Why does my touchpad cursor move erratically?
A2: This could be due to sensitivity settings. Access the touchpad settings through the control panel or a dedicated touchpad application, and adjust the sensitivity to a level that suits your preference. Additionally, ensure that there are no external factors obstructing the touchpad's surface, such as moisture, dirt, or dust.

Q3: How can I disable accidental touchpad taps while typing?
A3: If you experience accidental taps on the touchpad while typing, you can enable palm rejection or disable tap-to-click. This can be done through the touchpad settings, where you can find options to adjust the sensitivity of taps or change the behavior of accidental touches while typing. Enabling palm rejection can help prevent unintended cursor movements caused by resting your palm on the touchpad.
